Insulin Resistance/Hyperinsulinaemia Management
Insulin resistance is a medical term referring to the hormone insulin not working as effectively in the body. Insulin is a hormone we all produce which regulates our blood sugar levels to keep them within normal ranges.
If you have insulin resistance, your body resists the action of insulin, and has to produce higher insulin amounts to keep the blood glucose levels within normal ranges.
High levels of insulin can can make it more difficult to lose weight particularly around the abdomen (tummy).
Other symptoms we have seen being associated with insulin resistance which are based on reports from our clients that are suffering from high insulin,
diagnosed by a blood test from their GP, are**:
- Central obesity (around tummy)
- Difficulty losing weight
- Sugar/Carbohydrate cravings (e.g. sweet foods, bread, potato, pasta etc)
- Bloating around abdomen
- Itchy skins and hot flushing
- Insatiable hunger (e.g. always hungry)
**These symptoms are not evidence based. The symptom list collected is reliant soley on what our client’s have verbally reported to us over the years. Also please note these symptom can be associated with a variety of other health conditions and medical assistance from your GP is strongly advised.
